Practical info

How to get around, where to find water, how to take part safely and who to turn to if something goes wrong.

Funfair

Thursday 10 to Monday 14 September, 6 pm–2 am, next to the athletics track (between rda. de Tolosa and c. d’Olot).

Thursday 10 September: 2-for-1 offer at the funfair.
Quiet hour: from 6 to 7 pm the funfair runs without music or noise, for children, young people and adults with autism or sensory hypersensitivity.

Information point

At pl. d’El Mirador. Mornings 11 am–1.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday; evenings 6–9 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Pick up an ID wristband for children: you can write their name and a contact phone number on it in case they get lost.

Festa Major scarf

Handed out free at the information point in pl. d’El Mirador while stocks last. It carries Castellar’s colours and the motto “Fem Castellar, fem poble”.

Sign language

The Town Council will provide a sign language interpreter at the civic reception and Town Medal ceremony, the official Catalan National Day ceremony and the Festa Major opening speech.

Reserved area

The Town Council provides access for people with reduced mobility and disabilities at the shows in pl. d’El Mirador, pl. de la Fàbrica Nova and the Vilabarrakes site. Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of two companions per person. You must show a disability card and/or a Cuida’m card.

Priority 1: people with certified reduced mobility.
Priority 2: people with other disabilities above 65 %.

Vibrating backpacks

The Els Catarres concert will offer vibrating backpacks with a hearing loop for people with hearing impairments. Go to the reserved area, marked with blue flags.

Hearing loop and audio support

The Auditorium has ten sound receivers for people with hearing difficulties.

Inclusive queue

Espai Aventura’t on Monday 14 September at pl. de la Fàbrica Nova will have an inclusive queue for children with disabilities. Register at the information point, with a maximum of two companions. Children with a certified disability, plus one companion, can access the funfair rides without queueing.

Getting around

Traffic

We recommend avoiding the car for journeys within Castellar during Festa Major and following traffic rules. Parking is not allowed on streets affected by parades and the correfoc.

Public transport

An extra N65 night bus stop will operate at the junction of the Ronda and carrer del Berguedà on the nights of Thursday 10, Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September.

Parking

The plaça Major underground car park will be open every day of Festa Major.
For the Els Catarres concert (Saturday 12), the open plot on the corner of carrer d’Osona and carrer del Berguedà will be used as a car park, from 6 pm to 1.30 am.

Water points

Stay hydrated during Festa Major. Extra water points will be set up at the busiest locations, in addition to the town’s many public drinking fountains.

First aid and changes

First aid will be available at the largest events. The organisers reserve the right to make changes to the programme.

Punt Lila

Only yes means yes. Not a drop of violence.

An information and advice point to prevent sexist or LGBTI-phobic violence, and to support anyone who may experience sexual assault. Run by the Feminism and LGBTIQ+ department of Castellar del Vallès Town Council.

Ten points

Castellar del Vallès Town Council and Club Atlètic Castellar are organising a new edition of this event. The start and finish are at plaça Major.

Rules

01The race is open to anyone who accepts and respects the route and the rules, regardless of category or age.
02Registration is free: online at clubatleticcastellar.cat/cursa-popular, or in person on Saturday 12 September from 3 to 4.30 pm at the kiosk in pl. d’El Mirador, subject to availability.
03The organisers reserve the right not to accept registrations on race day; if they do, it will be until 4.30 pm.
04There are prizes in all five races. No participant may win more than one trophy.
05To be eligible for a trophy you must wear your race number on your chest, clearly visible throughout the race.
06Prizes will be awarded after all five races have finished.
07The organisers are not liable for any damage or accidents suffered by participants or caused by them to third parties.
08Registering implies acceptance of these rules.

Safety advice

Large crowds

Pay attention to official information about the event.
Hydrate well before going out and carry water.
Know where the emergency exits and evacuation routes are.
If you are with others, agree on a meeting point in case you get separated.
Carry ID, and give children some form of identification such as a wristband.
Outdoors, if you feel trapped, look for an alternative spot with an evacuation route.
Do not climb railings, fences or other unstable structures.
When the event ends, leave in an orderly way, respecting the exit flow.
Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes or trainers.

In an emergency

Stay calm and follow the instructions of the emergency services. Indoors, do not use the lifts.
Head for the exits by the routes indicated without stopping. Never turn back.
Avoid shouting, running or pushing: it can create very dangerous situations.
Once in a safe area, if someone is missing, inform the emergency services.

A safe correfoc

For participants

Find out exactly where the correfoc will pass and follow the instructions of the organisers and stewards.
Wear cotton or denim clothing — never synthetic fibres.
Tie a cotton scarf around your head or wear a hat.
Wear trainers or sturdy, well-laced shoes — never sandals or flip-flops.
Leave as little skin uncovered as possible to avoid burns.
Always jump forwards and do not stand between the drummers and the firework carriers.
Spread out between the different groups and keep a safe distance from spectators.
For safety reasons, adults may not take part in the children’s and youth correfoc.

For residents and shops

Do not leave vehicles parked along the correfoc route, as the signs indicate.
Lower metal shutters or blinds where buildings have them.
Protect window, door and shop-front glass with thick cardboard.
Roll up all external awnings on homes and premises.
Do not throw water at participants or spectators — it is dangerous, even if they ask you to.
Switch off all alarms.

A safe soapbox race

Find out about the route and follow the instructions of the organisers and stewards.
Always stand behind the barriers or safety tape and do not step onto the course.
If you need to cross to the other pavement, tell the organisers or stewards first and wait for authorisation.
Avoid tight bends, steep descents and possible impact points.
Supervise children at all times and do not let them approach the moving vehicles.
Do not throw objects or interact with the competing vehicles during the race.
Wear comfortable footwear and avoid slippery areas or places with obstacles.
If there is an incident, stay calm and follow the instructions of authorised staff.

For residents along the route

Remove vehicles, bins and obstacles from the street before the race starts.
Do not put out pets or objects that could get in the way of participants.
Close windows and balconies at the busiest points to prevent objects falling.
Respect the street closing and reopening times announced by the organisers.
Check alternative routes and parking in advance.
